The Royal Order of Scotland and Its Legacy
Origins & Early History Legendary Roots: The Order claims to have been established by Robert the Bruce in 1314 after the Battle of Bannockburn, recognizing Masons who aided him. 18th Century Rise: Its documented history starts in London around 1740, spreading to France before moving to Edinburgh, Scotland, in 1767 to form the current Grand Lodge. Near Extinction & Resurgence: The Order nearly died out in the early 19th century but was revived in 1839, leading to renewed growth.
